It’s a new year, and people are working on goal setting, planning the next milestone, or creating vision boards.
In the age of hyper-productivity, we are bombarded with messages and tools to help us conquer the next milestone, years, if not decades, ahead.
My least favorite question is, “Where do you see yourself in five years?” I have never been able to articulate a definitive answer, not due to a lack of ambition or vision but because I fundamentally believe in allowing my path to develop organically.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with knowing your goals and charting the path as meticulously as you want.
But it is also okay if you don’t – It’s just a different strategy to, life’ing.
Openness to unpredictability and some risk-taking lead to roads not even imagined in the goal-setting plan.
The shadows of our past mistakes and the fears of our future are constant. Sometimes, there is also power in embracing the present.
